Tollgate Orchestra headlines in the West End!

Tollgate Orchestra perform at Conway Hall

This week, the Tollgate Orchestra and a small group of children from the resource provision performed alongside the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (OAE) at one of London’s most esteemed performance venues, the Conway Hall. The OAE are a British period instrument orchestra and are the resident ensemble at the Southbank Centre.

OAE instrumentalists have been working collaboratively with the Tollgate Orchestra and children from the provision throughout the Spring Term. The workshops have been of an exceptional quality, with creative ensemble music making and student led learning at its centre. The workshops culminated in this high profile performance with the students performing music from Henry Purcell’s opera, ‘King Arthur’.

The performance was truly sensational and it was so wonderful to see the children utterly immersed and engaged in active music making alongside their professional counterparts. It really was an evening to treasure and we were delighted to welcome the children’s friends and family to the Conway Hall to experience the performance as well as to soak up the atmosphere alongside all the children and staff.
